Airtel launches Rs 289 plan, here’s how it compares to Reliance Jio’s Rs 249 plan
NEW DELHI: Telecom operator Airtel has launched a new plan for its prepaid users. The telecom service provider has rolled out a plan of Rs 289, which offers high-speed data and unlimited calling facility to its subscribers. Under the Rs 289 plan, Airtel is offering unlimited local and STD calling along with 1.5GB data per day. Users will also get 100 SMS daily as part of the plan. This new plan comes with the validity of 28 days. The new plan also offers access to Zee5 premium and Airtel Stream Premium subscriptions. Airtel users will also get Wynk Music access and free online courses for one year from Shaw Academy. This new plan from Airtel will compete against the Rs 249 plan from Reliance Jio. The Mukesh Ambani-owned telecom operator offers 2GB data and 100 SMS per day. The plan offers unlimited Jio to Jio calling and users will also get 1,000 minutes to call non- Jio users. The plan also offers complimentary access to MyJio apps which include JioTV, JioCinema, and others. Recently, it was reported that Airtel is planning to launch its own video calling service. As reported by The Economic Times, Airtel is planning to launch its video conferencing tool to take on the likes of Zoom, Google Hangouts, and Reliance’s JioMeet. “Airtel is close to launching several enterprise-grade products including a unified videoconferencing tool very shortly,” a person aware of the matter told ET. Initially, Airtel plans to introduce the tool as a paid service for enterprises and businesses only. It will be rolled out to all customers depending on the response and demand from the users.
