JioMart app crosses 1 million mark on Google Play Store
Reliance Jio’s most recently launched app, JioMart has crossed the 1 million mark on Google Play Store almost within a week since it launched on the platform. The app first made an appearance on Google’s Play Store and a couple of days after that on Apple’s App Store. Although the exact date of when the JioMart app hit the Play Store is not clear, as on July 17 the app only had 100-plus downloads and it is exactly a week after, the download count has hit over 10 lakh now. Further, the app is now listed as among the top 3 apps in the ‘Shopping’ category. After Android the app then made its way to Apple Apple Store earlier this week. Since the listing on Apple’s App Store doesn’t reveal the approximate download count, it cannot be known how many iPhone users in the country have this app, however, at the time of filing this report, the app has over 270 ratings. The launch of the JioMart app comes just days after Reliance Industries held its 43rd annual general meeting (AGM). At the AGM, chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani had mentioned that JioMart is now taking over 2.5 lakh daily orders from across the country. Elaborating on the expansion plan of JioMart he had said “JioMart is now focused on scaling its geographical reach and delivery capabilities. JioMart is obsessed with providing convenience and a superior shopping experience to consumers. In addition to grocery, we will expand JioMart to cover electronics, fashion, pharmaceutical and healthcare in the days ahead. In the coming years, we will cover many more cities, serve many more customers across India, and expand to many more categories.” Users can choose to order products from categories like fruits, vegetables, staples, personal care, beverages, branded foods, snacks, etc. Reliance Jio claims that the most of the products — fruits and vegetables — available in JioMart are sourced directly from farmers. The JioMart app claims to be able to deliver in over 200 locations, which are listed within the app. In order to be competitive, JioMart claims that products will be offered at least 5% below the MRP.
